February Healthy Home Tips

The winter blues are leaving and a lot of people are getting their carpets and rugs cleaned.

Here are a few tips that may help you out.

  • During the drying time, try to avoid walking on the carpet or rugs. If you have to walk on them, before they dry, make sure you only use your sock or bare feet and wipe your feet both before and after you step on the carpet. Keeping a towel on the floor near the carpet will help.
  • If small furniture will be placed back on the carpet or rugs, make sure the carpet or rugs are completely dry. Never place wood or metal on damp ow wet carpet. I could produce a stain or rust that may not come out.

If you need any extra carpet protectors, just ask and we will be happy to give you some.

January Healthy Home Tips

Happy New Year!

I pray that you and your family are safe with all of the rain and wind that we have had.

My cleaning tip for January is focused on how to keep your floors clean and dry during the raining season.

First, as I always recommend, purchase a good-durable doormat.

Next, I recommend getting a cardboard box.  This may sound weird, but it works. Open the box so that it is flat.
Place the opened box near your door. Use this box to wipe your feet or to stand on, while removing your shoes.

The cardboard will absorb a lot of water before it needs to be replaced. It will also dry faster than having smelly wet towels by the door.

Lastly, I recommend a Quickie Mop. Personally, I feel that theses are one of the greatest inventions. We use the Professional Might Mop TM. It has a terry cloth pad, that is machines washable and leave the floor nice a dry.

Keep the Quickie Mop near your door, so if you do have water on the floor you can mop it up quickly, before it become a bigger problem.

Good luck and stay dry.

January 2009 – Happy New Year Everyone!

This year, I am going to move out of my comfort zone and try a few things different.  As for Delight Cleaning, we are still striving to provide you with the best carpet cleaning and house cleaning service we can.  However on a personal level, I am going to strive to reach out to help more people.  I plan to share some of my personal views, in hopes to make the world a better place.  I also plan to encourage and help as many people as I can to improve our economy and strengthen local small businesses as the backbone of our community.

Remember that independently we can only complain, but together we can make a difference.

November Cleaning Tip

As we move into November and start to see signs of rain, it is a good idea to check your windows to see if you have any leaks or any mold.  Moisture can gather inside of the windows, either due to rain or condensation.  If you have moisture in a dark area, such as behind a curtain, you have a perfect breeding ground for mold.  I would recommend using a mixture of 2 oz of bleach and 1 quart of warm water to wash away any mold you might find.  Remember that any amount of bleach will “bleach out” the color of any fabric it touches, so be careful and wear gloves.

Other recommendations for November are:
- Replace smoke detector batteries
- Inspect AC/ Heater filter
- Inspect washing machine hoses
- Call to schedule any holiday cleaning needs you have, before you run out of time.

As always, I hope these tips are helpful and you have a happy and healthy home!
